Together Events are reading celebrations with grade 1 and 2 students from Calgary Reads schools. This is a joyful time of laughter and fun with dozens of volunteers who join with the young readers in very small groups to discuss the excitement of reading and read aloud. A celebrity storyteller joins in the fun by reading a book aloud, demonstrating how fun reading really can be. Every grade 1 and 2 child from the school gets a book bag filled with goodies and several new books, often the first book some of these children have ever owned.
Our next Together Events requiring volunteer readers are:
- October 6, 2011 Acadia School
- November 3, 2011 Cambrian Heights School
- January 27, 2012 Family Literacy Day at Marlborough School
- March 15, 2012 Glenbrook School from 1:00 – 2:30 **Volunteers please pre-register**
