Calgary Reads with English Language Learners
English as a Second Language (ESL) / English Language Learners (ELL) children whose first language is not English face huge challenges in literacy acquisition. Specially trained tutors work with these children in Grade 2 as they develop vocabulary, comprehension and stronger foundations in English.
This program is being piloted in three schools during the 2008-09 school year.
