Calgary Reads @ Home
Parents of Calgary Reads students are enabled to extend and support our framework by participating in four literacy evenings in their community school. CalgaryReads@Home offers a place for discussion, support, information, and hands-on ideas to help parents be their 'child's first best teacher'. Dinner and child care is provided each night to all participants. A tour of the local public library culminates the evening sessions.
This program engages and supports the parents of Calgary Reads students in building their capacity to be reading coaches with their children, and to further literacy development in their own homes. Its design is based on current family literacy research.
